MEET YOUR TRAINER
Kelsey Bowyer x Head Trainer
Kelsey found her way into the dog world as a teenager helping with rescues, shelters, and fostering. She especially found a passion for working with the more difficult dogs going up for adoption. After studying and practicing Graphic Design professionally and having dogs be a side job, Kelsey decided to make the switch full-time to training and studying more about how canines operate. She has since mentored under multiple master trainers studying techniques for pet and sport dogs and has helped hundreds of dogs and families achieve success and better communication.
Kelsey is certified in operant conditioning theories and electronic collar training. She is also a certified PSA (Protection Sport Association) decoy and loves building dogs for sport across the West Coast and with her local training club.
She values patient problem-solving and balanced training methods and always aims to bring out the best of the dog in front of her. Kelsey currently has an 12-year-old Australian Shepherd (Oakley) who runs the Barketing Department at TWK9, a 3.5-year-old Dutch Shepherd (Huck), and a 3.5-year-old Malinois (Bex) who are both in training for PSA.
THE HISTORY
The Tail of Two Wolves
An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy. “It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”
He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”
